6. Sukoon Mila

One of the most soothing numbers created in B-town, this one is a simple and sweet pleasure. A melody that melts away your insides as the lyrics flow in, the song appeals because of its effortless allure to the hearts that love! An Arijit Singh number again (the man is a melody-machine!), this one is unarguably one of the most romantic tracks 2014 has heard, umm, felt! Its presence in the biographical sports drama film Mary Kom makes its credibility all the more endearing and captivating.

Our favorite lines:

Jab se juda tujhse jiya

Chain o qaraar dil ko mila (2)

Jab bhi rahoon sang tere

Bhoolun har gam shiqwa gila

Tere ishq ka hi nasha hai

Meri rooh tak mein basaa hai

Tune aankhon se jo chhuaa

Sukoon mila, sukoon mila..

7. Teri Galliyan

ek villain

From the singer-composer who gave the nation its love anthem in 2013, Ankit Tiwari creates yet another unforgettable romantic melody in Ek Villain, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra. Beginning with the dialogue “Jab tak hum kisi ke humdard nahi bante na, tab tak hum dard se aur dard hum se juda nahin hota,” the song is a musical rendition of how love conquers pain and darkness. The video is able to capture the same and is a B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. enactment of going the extra mile for the one you fall for (and also wishing you never have to walk another mile without them!). So, if you have found your ‘humdard,’ try some singing!

Our favorite lines:

Tu meri neendo me sota hai

Tu mere ashqo mein rota hai

Sargoshi si hai khayalon mein

Tu na ho, phir bhi tu hota hai

Hai sila.. tu mere dard ka

Mere dil ki duaayein hain..

Here’s the musical treat:

8. Zehnaseeb

Ever considered someone to be a blessing, your lucky charm, someone destined to be yours? Ever thought how you can love someone more and more with each passing moment? Find out in this remarkable Vishal-Shekhar composition. Another beautiful melody from Hasee Toh Phasee, this one has been sung by Shekhar Ravjiani and Chinmayi Sripada. The singular and striking lyrics have been penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya and the rest is plain magical mystery!

Our favorite lines:

Tere sang beete har lamhe pe humko naaz hai

Tere sang jo na beete uspe aitraaz hai

Iss kadar hum dono ka milna ek raaz hai

9. Humdard

ek villain

When Mithoon and Arijit Singh come together, magic accompanies. The unison of two souls is the best possible way to live love. The song makes it visible, and through music! If your heartbeats are entwined with those of your soul mate’s, and you inevitably share in their joys and sorrows, this song from Ek Villain is meant for you! A promise of love that lives on beyond time and death, this one is a timeless delight, because ‘iss pyaar ko hai sadiyaan kaafi nahi.’

Our favorite lines:

Teri dhadkano se hai zindagi meri

Khwahishein teri ab duaaein meri

Kitna anokha bandhan hai ye

Teri meri jaan jo ek hui

Lautunga yahaan tere paas main haan

Waada hai mera mar bhi jaaun kahin

Come, live the love here:

10. Chaar Kadam

pk

This list would not be complete if a year-end bonus weren’t here. The latest feel-good number from the Aamir-Anushka-Sushant starrer PK, this one is by one of my most favorite singers ever – Shaan. Shreya Ghoshal lends her voice for the female playback. ‘Bin kuch kahe, bin kuch sune, haathon mein haath liye, chaar kadam, bas chaar kadam, chal do na saath mere…’ Need we say more? 😀

Yeah, okay – I’ll say one thing more – Sushant looks superrrr cute 😉

Our favorite lines:

Raahon mein tumko jo dhoop sataye

Chaaon bicha denge hum

Andhere daraye to jaa kar falak pe

Chand sajaa denge hum

Chhaye udaasi latife suna kar

Tujhko hansa denge hum

Enjoy the official promo of the song here, and wait until Friday to catch it on the big screen:
