Long distance relationships are incredibly hard to bear. Even though you signed up for it because you love your partner, it’s not easy or that you get used to their absence. It’s like a piece of you is missing from your life. And even if you didn’t sign up for a long distance relationship but circumstances have pulled you apart, then that’s a different kind of pain. Either way, you’re in pain because you have to let your partner go for longer periods of time, without having their arms about you, without having to see their expression when you tell them that your presentation at work was a hit, without having them to snuggle up to you in your big, empty bed.

Although technology eases some of this pain, there are newer inventions that answer the question, how to survive a long distance relationship. A phone call every night, texting every hour, Skyping every alternate day would get you through the days, but what about those long, lonely nights? With these new ways we have for you, you’ll soon be a pro at answering the question of how to survive a long distance relationship.
1. Long distance pillows
A new invention, Pillow Talk, this helps you and your long distance lover to sleep together, despite the distance. How? It’s a pair of pillows, one for you and one for your lover, that light up when one of you is lying on it. When your long distance lover is in bed, it lights up, giving you an opportunity to lie down too, so that their pillow is turned on too. A new way of sleeping together, without actually doing so, eh?
2. Apps that allow you to watch movies together
There are numerous apps that help you both connect to a movie and watch it at the same time, from your respective locations. There’s even a feature that allows you both to video chat while watching the movie, as if your lover is beside you, instead of hundreds of miles away.
3. Couple app
This app helps you message each other, share photos, to-do lists, have a dual calendar for dates, and even a thumb-kiss feature to make your phone vibrate when you two are touching the same spot on your screens.
4. Taptap wristband
This is almost similar to the long distance pillow, in that there are two wristbands, one on each of your wrists. When one of you taps on your wristband, the other person will feel the tap as a vibration against their wrist. You can make this fun by tapping out Morse codes, if you know how to do that. Plus, you can always draw encouragement for a presentation or a meeting by tapping on your band and receiving an answering tap back.
5. Hug shirt
This is a new invention, which allows you to ‘receive a hug’ from your partner in some form, when you’re wearing this.
