‘Miles apart but never in heart’ is what I say to anybody who as much as raises a peep about me and my long distance friend. Actually, friend is an understatement. She is a bestie, for life- so, yeah, BFF! My long distance friend may be miles removed from me by some cruel stroke of fate or simply, this circus act we call life but technology does a little part in bringing us together. Our love seals the rest.

The saddest part of a long distance friendship is not being able to hang around in person so much. And when you finally get a chance to step out of your virtual friendship platform, there’s nothing more precious than the little time you spend together.

Well, I understand you don’t (can’t!) meet in person, but then this is a friend you can always text, call, and reach out any time you want – because they are your go-to person and have the solution to all your problems.

Now, that’s how you kill two birds with a single stone. With all the struggle part already aced with your friend, you know you can survive the rigors of your long distance relationship like a piece of cake.

Sometimes, the reactions of our partners make it hard for us to express ourselves, but the perks of having a long distance friend is that you can let yourself be and what you get in return is a response that will lift your spirits up- minus the eye rolls and judgment!

When you want something – you just want it, but when you want something that’s not within your reach and have to wait for it– you want it bad, you crave and that’s the catch with which your long distance friendship becomes your personal brand of heroin, without you knowing it!

What do you usually want from your friends – a shoulder to cry on, an ever-ready shopping buddy, the devil to spy on your ex with, and what not! But this is a friendship that gives you none of this and still brings you all the happiness you can ask for. Unconditional, right?
