Yes. It’s true. All those rumors you have been hearing about sex helping you lose weight is in fact, the absolute, unadulterated truth. After extensive research, scientists have found that having sex with 30 minutes can burn up to 150 calories. Yup. ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY CALORIES.

Do you remember how running on the treadmill for 6 hours only burns like 2 calories? We aren’t surprised though, because sex takes effort, and there is a lot of action involved, so it is only natural that you will be rewarded for your effort with fat loss. In order to lose one pound of body weight, you need to burn 3,500 calories, so I asked my friend to do the math and she said you could lose a pound by having sex 35 times. Aww yuss.

A bunch of enthusiastic American researchers from the New England Research Institute in Massachusetts found that men who have sex at least two times a week saw a 45% decrease in develop heart conditions, and are less likely to suffer from a heart attack in their lives.

For years people have speculated about the exact benefits that sex might have on the body but now we have scientific evidence to prove that sex could reduce the risk of heart failure and other cardiovascular problems, especially in men. This might have something to do with the amount of energy that is spent when one is having sex, which exercises the heart and keeps your healthier.

This is something that you must have noticed yourself, if you have been lucky enough to engage in great sex during the course of your life. After you have had sex, you usually sleep like a baby. This is not just a coincidence, but also backed up by science and biology.

When you are having sex, your body releases a number of hormones such as oxytocin, endorphins, cortisol, etc. all of which prevent stress, relaxes your body, makes you feel positive, and even confident. This euphoria and ecstasy that you feel during and after sex is something that is great for your brain, especially if you are a patient of insomnia. It helps you sleep soundly through the night, and prevents you from having nightmares and disturbed sleep sessions.

When you are having sex, your body releases various kinds of endorphins. One of these includes beta-endorphins, which has a morphine-like effect on your body. This is why you don’t feel pain when you are having sex, and after having sex, you feel great about yourself. If you notice carefully, then you also feel less pain after having sex, than you did before.

Sex makes you happy. This is why people crave sex and this is why people constantly want to have sex. However, it doesn’t make you happy purely from a psychological point of view. Sex has been found to affect problems such as depression and anxiety and stress, on a biological level as well.

The body releases neuropeptides, which soothe your nerves and relaxes your brain and loosens the knots in your muscles, relaxing both your body and your mind. These neuropeptides are essentially the endorphins that I spoke about earlier, which makes helps keep most of the symptoms of depression and anxiety at bay.

Along with producing happy hormones, your brain also produces dopamine when you are having sex. Dopamine makes your brain sharper, and helps you think more clearly.
