25 Awesome Ideas For A Romantic Date Night At Home

We all live in busy times, so much so that we don’t even get to go out on a date with our significant others. When you’ve been together for a while, you’ll have to indulge in certain social activities together. If you’re dating, you’ll probably have to entertain each other’s friends very often. If you’re married, there is just no end to all the neighbors, friends, and family that you have to keep in touch with. Plus, with jobs taking over most of our lives, it is almost impossible to find a good time to go out on a date. When you’re too tired to do anything at all, ‘Netflix and chill’ becomes your only option to chill together.

But if you’re doing this too often, you desperately need them date nights. But you don’t have enough time or the kind of dough for a fancy date every time you go out either. So, what do you do? Well, a date night at home is your best bet! Jobs, children, money, family or whatever else that stops you from romancing will not be a problem anymore because you can have that date at home and do so much more than just go to a restaurant and eat.

Why not? Dim the lights or head to the balcony and spread out a bed sheet. You can make whatever you want for the picnic basket, and have that much-needed cozy time with each other. Nice date, huh?

2. Karaoke night

These nights are always fun! You might like karaoke at the bar or when you’re home alone, so why not try it with your significant other? You can even dedicate songs to each other. Maybe even sing your lover your song, if you have one!

3. Video games

Now, if you’re like me, then this will probably be your favorite kind of date. If not, there’s no harm in trying. Some chips and dip and pizza to go while you beat your babe at their game! Whoever wins gets one sex fantasy fulfilled; now, how about that?

4. Candlelight time

Who doesn’t like candle light dinners? Especially when you can do it in the comfort of your home and maybe even cook your partner’s favorite meal? Inexpensive, inclusive, and definitely more private and romantic. You can even cuddle.

5. Stargaze away

It sounds very movie-like, but star-gazing with your loved one is a different experience altogether. It’s peaceful, romantic, and beautiful all at once! Sigh!

6. Spa date

Oh, yes. This could be the perfect date night at home! Get some fragrant oils and put some soothing music on. Not only do you help each other relax with the massages, you might also end up doing a lot more in the middle of it. *wink*

7. The cook off

A cooking competition between the two of you will definitely bring out a different side in both of you. Good food or not, it’ll definitely be plenty of fun competing with each other. Bring out that competitive spirit, you!

8. Quiz

No, not the kinds you watch on TV. I’m talking about personality and love quizzes that you can take for the fun of it. Just don’t take anything seriously, because, again, it is only for fun.

9. Dance date

People just don’t seem to dance anymore. So, make a playlist together, dim the lights or add some fancy lights, and dance the night away. Whether you slow dance or disco dance, let your hair down and enjoy. It will definitely be worth it.

10. Sample a culture

You wanted to do something new? This is the best way to go about it. Just pick a culture, read on it, and try out their cuisine, movies, and learn how to tell your partner that you love them in that language.

11. Photoshoot it

Of course, you take pictures when you head out or random selfies whenever you feel like it. But when was the last time you actually took lots of pictures together? So, why not create more memories that you can look back on! Then print them all out and get scrapbooking!

12. Theme time

The name says it all. Pick a theme and work your date around it. Dress it, eat it, and everything else that you do on a date.

Instead of doing the regular alcohol and dinner, try out different kinds of alcohol. Stock up on all the kinds that you can get, and have a good session tasting them and getting drunk. Better yet, mix cocktails by either following recipes online, or mixing your own blend, and have fun!

14. Lights out

Remember how excited we used to get when the fuse went out, back when we were younger? Just pull that plug again and see how much fun you can have in the dark. It will definitely be some different kind of fun.

15. Rooftop love

Well, if you haven’t had a date on your terrace yet, then this is something you should totally do. Have dinner under the stars and enjoy the nature with the best company you can get.

16. Bucket list

Couples generally have at least a few fantasies that they want to fulfill. So why not try them out for one of your stay-in dates? Maybe you could write down three wishes each and draw one at a time and see if you can grant the wish.

17. Role play

If you haven’t tried it already, then you’re missing out on a lot of fun. We often get too bored with our own lives, so why not try living someone else’s for a change? Besides, it definitely livens up the sex life.

18. Strip tease

This is like one of those must-do things with your partner. Play strip poker or tease each other out of your clothes, but a stripping game is mandatory. Or you could even just go surprise your other half with a lap dance. And that will only lead to… um… fun times of a different kind!

19. Naked night

Close to the stripping night, but here, you have to do everything naked. So, cook without your clothes, clean or do anything, but keep them clothes away! There is something amazingly refreshing to be naked with each other, and yet just doing other work (though that probably won’t last long).

20. Game night

Not the video games, but maybe something you both enjoy playing? Tennis, basketball, chess or whatever other board games you can come up with. Playing with each other always gives you an adrenaline rush which is good for the after-game.

21. Camp time

We all have busy lives, so driving off to the unknown and camping isn’t exactly much of an option. So, camp at home. Set up a tent, get some food, and do what you might have done at camp. Everyone loves camp!

22. Bubble bath

If you can, then why not take a nice, long bubble bath together? It’s the perfect way to relax together at the end of a tiring day.

23. Movie marathon

Because why not? Pick out the movies you want to watch and have a movie date night at home. Maybe you could pick out movies for each other!

24. Old photos

The two of you should just sit down and re-live the past. Go through old pictures, tell each other the stories you remember, and talk about them. You probably never do that anymore.

25. Catch the sunrise

Maybe you did this in your earlier dating days, but it has been a while since you just enjoyed the sunrise together. As clichéd as it sounds, watching the sunrise/sunset with your lover is a different romantic experience altogether. It’s one of those feel-good experiences that you shouldn’t be missing out on. So, hit the terrace with a blanket, wine, and some food while you breathe in some nature and soak in some sunshine.

There you go! You have enough and more options to spend time at home in different ways other than just hitting the bed. You might have been with each other for too long or you’re probably even married, but these ideas will bring the spark back in the relationship. Maybe you don’t even need the spark, but these will definitely make your stay-at-home dates more fun. If you have children, then throw them in a room and lock them up for an evening of bliss.

Okay, I was definitely kidding. If kids are in the way, let them have a movie night in their rooms, or tell them to go for a sleepover at their friend’s place, or just have the date once they’re fast asleep. Whatever it is, make sure you don’t give up on your date nights, because your relationship is important too. So, go ahead and grab some beers and plan your stay-at-home cheap but awesome date! Pick whatever floats your boat, and have the best time.

Happy dating!
