The Complete Guide On How To Be Perfect In Everything You Do

Leo Tolstoy famously said, “If you look for perfection, you’ll never be content.” However, while you cannot achieve true perfection, you sure can try to reach it. Perfection is the difference between accomplishing your goals or leaving a string of unfinished tasks.

A successful relationship involves two flawed individuals, who are perfect for each other, who build something that is perfect for them. Even in our day to day lives, learning how to be perfect, or as near perfect as we can try to be, is a great way to lead your life.

Before you embark on your journey of how to be perfect in everything you do, you need to understand and accept that being perfect is not something you’re born with. It’s something you learn and understand and imbibe in your life. While we look for perfection from everything and everyone around us, we ignore it in our own lives.

So if you want to know how to be perfect and accomplish things you’ve always dreamed of, then read these following steps and follow them religiously.

1. Avoid distractions.

There are plenty of distractions in life, but avoiding them is key to achieving perfection, whether in your work life or your personal life. Another thing to note is that the closer you are to completing something, the more the chances of becoming distracted. The closer you get to your goal, the more you tend to take things easy, because you’re almost there. This is what you have to avoid – the small little distractions that can take you away from your goals. When you’re focused on something, try not to be distracted, however tempting or important those distractions might seem.

2. Stay motivated.

Lao Tzu said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” and he couldn’t be more right. When you set out to do something, you may not have all the variables in the equation, except for the end result. You might have to face numerous hurdles along the way, which might leave you exhausted, or worse, demotivated. But, if you want to achieve perfection in your life, you need to learn to push through, even when the going gets tough, and trudge along till you reach your goal. This can be done by having a solid plan at the start of your journey, and sticking to it as much as you can. See, you might have to tweak this plan of yours according to the hurdles and obstacles that you encounter, and that’s okay. The important thing is to stay on course, and reach the final destination.

3. Don’t give up halfway.

What most people do is give up halfway, when the going gets tough. The percentage of people who actually stick to their course and reach their final destination are those who become successful. If you think what you’re doing may not get you where you want to go, try something else. However, if you know that what you’re doing is right and will get you to your destination, despite being an arduous journey, then stick to it, no matter what, and achieve what you set out do in the first place. Remember, if you can’t finish something despite your best efforts, then it just isn’t worth starting at all.

4. Be determined, and persevere.

Your will to carry on, no matter what, is what will get you to your destination. At times, when you’re feeling low and dejected, you might feel like your dreams are nothing but wishful thinking. You might even start to feel as if you’re so far away from where you want to be, that you might as well give up now. But as difficult and obstacle-ridden your path might seem to be, if you’re determined enough and persevere in the face of defeat, you’ll get there, eventually. And the feeling is all the more sweeter for it.

5. Have the will to overcome obstacles.

Remember, not all that you set out to accomplish will be easy, but the end game will definitely be worth it. Also, the bigger and higher you want to soar, the harder it will be to get there, and all the more sweeter too. No journey, however big or small, is without hurdles and obstacles. So expect them along your way, but have the will to overcome them with dedication and determination.

6. Your mistakes are your greatest learnings.

It is said that Thomas Edison failed a thousand times before he successfully invented the light bulb. But he chose to look at it as the invention of the light bulb having a thousand steps. You may encounter many a failed attempt in your journey to reach the goal. These failed attempts are what you call experiences and learnings on how not to go about it. Failures are the stepping stones to success. So you need to value these experiences and learnings in your life, for they will come in handy in unexpected circumstances. Learning from your mistakes is one of the greatest things you can do in your life.

7. Learn from other’s experiences.

While mistakes and failures help you accrue valuable experiences, it’s not very encouraging if you fall down every step of the way. It doesn’t make for a pleasant journey. So, at times, what you can do to avoid mistakes is to learn from others who have traversed the same or similar path, much before you. Read biographies and autobiographies of great, successful people, to learn from their mistakes.

8. Question yourself.

Along your journey to achieve something, you need to stop from time to time and question yourself about what you’re doing. Try to see the situation and the path you’re on from different angles. See if you can do anything differently, or better. No one’s a better judge of your own capabilities and dreams than you yourself. So you know best what works for you and what doesn’t.

9. Try to achieve something – because you want to.

Whatever you want to achieve in your life, do it because you want to, and not because you’re seeking validation from others or you’re trying to prove something to someone. Another reason why you might set out to accomplish something would be because you’re competing against someone. This again isn’t the right motivator for you. You need to compete with yourself, and stop worrying about what others might think or want or do. Granted that it feels good if someone strokes our ego and validates our accomplishments. But you need to get that validation from yourself first.

10. Don’t hold back.

When you’ve set out to achieve your target, keep your eye on the prize and do not lose focus by any distractions. Remember that there’s no short cut to success. You must persevere with grit and determination. You need to put in all you’ve got to complete what you set out to do. Don’t try to find a short cut or an easy way out. It’s never going to last. If you want to earn respect and attain perfection, then learn to be noble and genuine in your efforts.

11. Practice efficiency.

Whatever you do, be efficient. Doing the right thing at the right time is one way to achieve perfection. Granted that luck has a minor role to play in everything you do, but it also needs careful and meticulous planning. Working hard is a good, but doing it smartly is what gets you from the start to the finish, and bring you success.

12. Sometimes you just can’t succeed.

Despite putting in your best efforts, being efficient, and doing everything right, you may not attain success, and thereby lose out on perfection. However, in your quest to learn how to be perfect, what you need to understand is that it’s alright to fail. Life is too short to wallow in self-pity and failures. What you need to do instead is to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on. In the long run, it doesn’t matter how many times you failed, only that you learned from those failures and persevered. Remember, trying to achieve something and attaining perfection is better than not having given it a shot at all.

If you follow these tips on how to be perfect in everything you do, you’re sure to achieve perfection and reach your goals. Good luck in your pursuit to perfection.
