Lucky are those who find a best friend in their mom- she is the one who knows you like the author who has written you and therefore, shall even find the words that you didn’t care to etch in your ellipses. She is teacher, philosopher, guide, confidante, comforter, caretaker..and so much more- she is a mother! She is dearest mom! For all of us who cannot imagine who we’d be if it weren’t for mom, this one shall ring ever so true. Here are some things which you will experience if your mom is your BFF:
1. Shopping with her is not a chore

She will never judge you for buying ‘too short’ a dress or call you out on that ridiculous shade which just won’t go with your stilettos! She will get you everything that you go ‘wow’ about and then, be quick to remind you that you do not have the white blazer to go with your new corset because you never stick to a list when shopping! If that isn’t fun, what is? You make a day of it! 😉
2. She is on speed dial for great news

Whenever something awesome happens to you, she is the first person you are waiting to tell. If not on call, you will text her and let her know and only when she responds with an equally ‘woohoo’ reaction do the adrenaline pumps go down a notch!

3. Go-to person on a bad day
And she is also there for you when it’s a blah kind of day. Whether you have had a bad day at work or are simply going through a horrible day PMSing, she knows the right way to cheer you up. ☺
4. Facial expressions are enough

You don’t need words to express yourself, even facial expressions are enough. These come super handy when you are out in a public place- being annoyed by that sales guy at the store, because just a whisper with your eyes should be enough!
5. She will bring you down to earth
They say it is only the people who love you best who will tell you the truth about everything in your life. They will call you out on your drama queen avatar and stand to take you a peg down or two when you feel too full of yourself. And nobody administers these measured doses of reality better than your mom!
6. Surprise gifts are her forte
She will splurge on the best gifts and surprise you randomly. She usually keeps a note of all the stuff you liked and will not think twice about getting them for you. And you do the same for her!
7. Honest advice always

Her age and experience are invaluable and she is ready with some sage advice at all times. Of course, the sanity often is at loggerheads with your own ‘crazy’ but you can be sure it is coming from a trusted place. You know that she means you well and will always be honest and fair.
8. Spending weekends with her is fun

Yes, it might sound boring that you went to the movies with your mom or spent Saturday evening watching TV with her but it’s as much fun as going out with your friends. The good food and gossip served steaming hot on these nights is awesome.

9. Confessions are not scary with her

If you have done something terrible or just done something you want to get off your chest, you can go tell her about it and she will not judge you for it. She will just try to make you see your mistake and get your a*s out of the mess!
10. Professional helpline
She has had years of experience in taking care of a home,whilst juggling work and bringing you up to be who you are and so, she has the insider’s access that every professional has up their sleeve. If you are looking to cook lasagna or wash that stain off your white shirt, she is the person you go to. Similarly, if you need help with some brand building ideas or client management, ditto!
11. Personal superhero

She is your very own super hero- someone you can look up to and count on whenever you need help. She will rush to defend you against every odd that comes your way.
12. She can be a gossip girl
You can tell her all the gossip at your workplace or college and get it out of your system without it coming back at you. She knows everyone in your circle and can pick up a story thread easily.
13. Agree to disagree

No two best friends ever had the same opinion all the time, nor do you and your mom. There are disagreements but you both usually take the high road and move past them.
14. She rocks at guy advice

Winking at each other when a hot guy sits at the counter beside you or sharing cute actor pics, even asking for advice on how to deal with your annoying boyfriend is your personal mom-daughter camaraderie. After all, she dealt with your dad all these years! 😛
15. She is your ultimate cheerleader
Everyone needs a cheerleader and who better at it than your mom. Irrespective of how much you suck at something, she is always there to support you and motivate you at every task you do.
