Why Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ Is Making Us Go Gaga Over High Street Fashion

When life gives you lemons, have the guts to make lemonade of it. Now this is not my rant but a realization I have had the hard way. Sure, some biggie has given this quote long back,  but then, seeing Beyoncé Knowles in ‘Lemonade’ makes me believe that this line attunes itself to the struggles and strife of celebs too. The latest Beyoncé album ‘Lemonade’ has journeyed right to the top since it was made available online in April. In addition to giving us a memorable album and an interesting video, ‘Lemonade’ sure has given us some awesome fashion goals too. And yes – all high street fashion goals too.

High street fashion is no longer something unachievable. In short, it means the fusion of daily, everyday fashion elements in a way that tops these up as couture. Take your well-worn denims and team it up with a French cap and a loose butterfly top. This way you end up fusing top-end couture elements with a daily essential. Beyoncé has done just that in ‘Lemonade.’ She has taken couture and rocked it on the street. She has taken daily tidbits and added top-end vibes to those! That’s some high street for you, folks!

To begin with, let’s dissect five top looks that can be worn by me, you, and anybody around us. Beyoncé has made me realize that high street fashion does not need the streets of LA or NY, it can grace the streets of any city or town, as long as the one carrying the look does it with confidence and élan.

1. The Goth look

We are go gaga over Goth. We have covered all those tips and hacks to get Goth right. ‘Lemonade’ gave us a memorable Goth look too. The way she wears the bralette with this awesome shrug makes us want to adapt this high street style for the summer. The metallic neckpiece is a statement pick and makes us want to go grab this monochrome metal combo now.

2. Bash up some serene fashion

Maxi dresses are not about flowy silhouettes only. Lemonade has made us realize that the maxi can be worn like a dress for even the most formal gatherings. Making sure that you let your hair loose, doing your makeup the right way as well as go in for layering in a maxi, are important rules to follow. This Goddess-like look is a fresh break from shimmer, bling or glitter. With white playing itself to perfection, our summers finally have the right element that will help us cool off. And who said dusky ladies should steer clear of white? Beyoncé is the perfect example of a dusky beauty owning the look with white.

3. Want to go from gym to work?

Try this grey on grey chic look that can be rocked in a jiffy. Get some classy hair accessories in your bag as you rush to the gym. High waist shapewear pants and a bustier can be spunky for the gym but when you throw over a smart blazer and rush to work, you look smart. The lesson to take here is, no matter how sweaty life seems, adding a new take to it will make you feel rejuvenated! And yes, you actually can rock high street fashion without much prepping up. A tip to remember here is for such a Lemonade-inspired look, you can simply add a breezy throw or a shrug or jacket in pop shade. This too can work wonders and make you believe that celeb-inspired fashion is never out of your league.

4. Ranch up some high street

Who said ranch fashion is unreal? Get the best inspiration from this look of Lemonade star Beyoncé. Simply lap up those sexy denims and a chic camisole. You may even color the look up. The best lesson in fashion to take from this look is that it is wearable round the year. Winters might need added layering, but summer and spring can make you want to be free from clumsy fashion. High street style is casual and clever at the same time. You just need to be sure you know how to walk with some oomph.

5. Chic nun style

Who said that the most basic and taken for granted stuff cannot be fashionable? Inspired by a nun’s habit, this belted wonder makes us want to embrace high street fashion like never before. The ‘Lemonade’ looks we love are all cosmopolitan, chic, and yet wearable, anywhere, anytime. From the accessory-free styling to the high on structure cuts, this chic nun look is indeed worth a try.

“When you love and accept yourself, when you know who really cares about you, and when you learn from your mistakes, then you stop caring about what people who don’t know you think.”

With the Lemonade singer thinking on such lines, we for sure know that high street is possible at not a high price.

“I tried to change, closed my mouth more, tried to be softer, prettier, less awake. Fasted for 60 days, wore white, abstained from mirrors, abstained from sex, slowly did not speak another word … I grew thickened skin on my feet I bathed in bleach and plugged my menses with pages from the holy book, but still inside me, coiled deep, was the need to know … are you cheating on me?”

These lyrics from ‘Lemonade’ made us realize that the star singer is not very different from us – in terms of love as these lines will reveal.
