The Ultimate Guide On 2017 Best Beauty Products

2017 has been THE year for skincare and beauty, what with some of the best makeup and beauty products ever, being launched in this eventful year. We’ve had beauty gurus like Huda Kattan, top celebrities like Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian launch their own (INCREDIBLE) beauty lines. But that does not mean that the skincare industry has been lagging behind. From sheet masks, to crazy peel-off masks (remember all those charcoal peel-off mask videos?), to 24K gold face creams – it’s been a pretty great year for skincare enthusiasts. If you’re a skincare junkie, then skip ahead to the part where we’ve listed all the very best beauty products of 2017. But if you’re not quite sure how to go about this whole skincare thing, then here are a few tips for you to create your own skincare routine.

1. Know your skin type.

It is very important to know your skin type. There are four main skin types – oily, dry, combination and sensitive. Of course your skin type may be a mix of two or more of the ones we mentioned. Either way, it is important to use products that suit your skin type. For instance, if you have oily or combination skin, then opt for more gel-based products than thick cream based products, since cream products will clog your pores which may result in acne.

2. Know your budget

For starters, let us just say that almost all good skincare products tend to be expensive. We do not suggest compromising when it comes to skincare because the cheaper the product, the higher the chances that they’ve used cheap, harsh chemicals. So they might have a bad effect on your skin in the long run. That being said, more expensive doesn’t always mean better. It is important for you to do your research before you invest in skincare.

3. Change according to the seasons

Your skincare routine should not be the same for all seasons, because your skin is not the same all year round. Just because you have super oily skin in summer, does not mean that it will not dry out in the winter (especially if you’re over 21 years old). So you must switch up your beauty routine from time to time, to make sure your skin is getting the nutrition it needs.

4. Always read up on the ingredient

Yes, we know the ingredients list on most products looks scary and impossible to understand, but it is important for you to know what you put on your skin. While most skincare products contain some similar ingredients, there are a few you should keep a look out for. For example, salicylic acid is great for acne prone skin, as it helps remove the outer layer of skin; collagen is great for wrinkles as it helps tighten your skin, etc.

That being said, here are some of the best beauty products of 2017.

1. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Complex II

The Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum is possibly one of the best rated beauty products ever. It is great for dull, aging skin, as it works towards repairing dry skin, and restoring a youthful radiance to skin. It contains traces of caffeine, a great antioxidant, which helps repair the harmful effects of UV rays from the sun.

Best for – Anti-aging solutions

Skin type – Dry to Combination

2. Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Plus Global Anti-Aging Cell Power Collection

Yet another anti-aging collection by Estee Lauder, this one boasts of a far more luxurious, silky feel, that helps revitalize your skin and hydrate it completely, without clogging your pores. It contains Moringa extract, which is highly absorbable, and provides deep nourishment to the skin while also purifying it.

This gel-based moisturizer is among Clinique’s top ten products, having gained excellent reviews from a giant customer-base. It contains hyaluronic acid, which is nature’s best “moisture-magnet”. Also, like all Clinique products it is allergy-tested and fragrance free. Also, this is great for wearing under makeup as it is super light-weight and allows foundation to layer well on top of it.

4. Clinique Moisture Surge Supercharged Concentrate

Yet another BOMB from Clinique, this water-gel moisturizer is essentially a more concentrated version of the one above. It is especially great for travel (bonus points for the cute sleek packaging), since your skin tends to get more dry and flaky when travelling. This moisturizer contains aloevera and glycerin, both of which are excellent for extensive hydration and water retention in the skin (which helps battle early-onset wrinkling).

Best for – long-lasting hydration

Skin type – all skin types

5. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Daily Solution

This “anti-imperfection” solution from The Body Shop is an absolute must-have for those with acne-prone skin. Use this concentrate daily, after cleansing your face, for best results. Bonus points for being vegan and cruelty-free, and for not costing us an arm and a leg.

7. Lush Cupcake Fresh Face Mask

This mask by Lush is an absolute godsend for those with oily skin. Like most Lush products it is all natural (without synthetic additives) and 100% vegan. The chocolate will draw out any impurities in your skin and excess oil, leaving it feeling clear and matte. It contains spearmint oil for cooling effect, vanilla essence to calm redness and Rhassoul mud for deep cleansing. All in all, a 10/10 product.

Best for – mattifying skin, deep cleansing

Skin type – oily; sensitive

8. Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask

Priced at a whopping $80, this 24K gold face mask by Peter Thomas Roth boasts of revitalizing aging skin, plumping the skin and providing it with a glow unlike ever before. It contains traces of pure 24K gold and colloidal gold which imparts a radiant glow to the skin while also locking in moisture. It also contains caffeine which helps tighten and plump up the skin. This luxurious mask also contains traces of peridot which is excellent for re-energizing the skin, and reducing effects of stress.

9. L.F Hydrating Bubble Mask

On the other end of the price spectrum, priced at a modest $14, lies the highly rated Bubble Mask from E.L.F Cosmetics. Having taken YouTube by storm, this mask boasts of providing long-lasting hydration, and deeply cleansed skin, all while being extremely fun to use. Unless you’ve lived under a rock, you’ve probably seen side-by-side pictures of how this mask froths up, covering your entire face with thousands of tiny bubbles. And we’ve gotta be honest, it looks like A LOT OF FUN.

Best for – hydration, cleansing

Skin type – combination to oily (bubbles may irritate sensitive skin)

10. Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum

The most expensive product on this list (and one of the highest rated product of the year) this serum by Lancôme is said to combat aging skin, by targeting the 10 key signs of youth –  texture, resiliency, elasticity, firmness, sagginess, fine lines, wrinkles, radiance, even skin tone, and clarity. It boasts of achieving visibly younger skin in 8 weeks, leaving you with plump, smooth, glowing skin.

Best for – anti-aging solutions

Skin type – all skin types

So these were some of the best beauty products of 2017, which made waves in the beauty world. While all these products are all pretty fudging awesome, here are some DIY tips to help you achieve amazing, clear, glowing skin.

  1. Drink LOTS of water. This will help rid your body and skin of all the toxins, and give you gorgeous clear skin.
  2. Moisturize daily. Yes, even if you have very oily skin. If you try to try out your skin, it will simply produce excess oil to rehydrate it, resulting in clogged pores, super oily skin, and possible acne. Instead, make sure you wash your face at twice daily, and moisturize it with lightweight gels to keep your skin hydrated.
  3. Rub ice on dark circles, scars and acne. This will help increase blood flow to your skin, revitalizing it, while also dealing with the bacteria in your skin.
  4. Always wash your makeup applicators. Dirty makeup brushes and sponges are among the top causes for acne-prone, problematic skin. Your makeup brushes contain all sorts of gross bacteria and fungi, which may harm your skin. So always wash your brushes after using them (at least once every other day).
