Let’s meet the future of bridal fashion – 3D printed wedding dresses!

All women know that finding the perfect wedding dress can be as elusive as finding that perfect man to walk down the aisle with. And since sewing is most definitely a thing of the past, most women opt to have their most special dress sewn by designer couturiers. However, Chinese 3D printing specialists, Xuberance, a specialist company in China wishes to make that a thing of the past too. Heralding the end of bridal dreams that are filled with anticipation of a Vera Wang, Chanel or an Oscar de la Renta gown, Xuberance brings to the bridal fashion scene 3D printed wedding dresses.

Yes, you heard that right. No longer would the statement “And the bride wore…” be as simple as it has been. Xuberance unveiled its exclusive 3D wedding dresses at the TCT + Personalize Asia exhibition at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing this weekend. The Xuberance team left no stone unturned in making the event a huge success by presenting a stunned audience with the ‘First Ever 3D Printed Wedding Theme Presentation.’

Made using advanced technology and nylon powder, these wedding gowns have intricate designs and can give exquisite traditional wedding couture a run for their money. The process deployed in the making of these novel creations is called SLS (Selective Laser Sintering). The dress fabric is constructed by using lasers to fuse together the nylon powder, slowly building up the layers and design. Xuberance, who hithertofore created hair pins, ties, jewelry, and home accessories using the same technology, aims to change the face of bridal fashion in the world. Signaling a complete change in the way fashion would henceforth be perceived, the designers vouch for the creations being comfortable, durable, and soft to touch!! The time involved, though, in getting an exquisite 3D gown ready is one week.

Not unless you are willing to shell out the premium price tag these gowns come with. As with all haute couture bridal designers, these gowns have also been displayed with a ‘price on request’ tag. And given the specialist process and considerable time that goes into the making of these unique wedding dresses, one can safely assume that the prices aren’t likely to be anywhere in the ‘affordable’ range for most. Just a bridal veil, with an intricate pattern is expected to retail at 20,000 Chinese yuan (approximately £2167.35).

Xuberance hasn’t limited its digital technology to dresses and accessories. 3D printed wedding cakes and sugar flowers were on display too. Showing off their chops in a spectacular bid to impress worked quite well for the Xuberance team. Their range of stunning new products and creations have delighted many from the industry, and it is but a matter of time that this unconventional mode shall take off to replace its traditional counterparts in chiffon and lace. The tech-savvy creations have been applauded by many and industry experts see immense scope for more ambitious patterns and offerings.
